How to Get a Blood Test for Marriage in 24 Hours
- 1). Determine if you need to get a blood test. Many states do not require a blood test for marriage.
- 2). Advise your doctor that you need a blood test --- and the results --- within 24 hours. The doctor will draw blood and submit a specimen to a laboratory, if applicable; some medical offices have in-house labs. After processing the blood test, the laboratory will send the report back to the doctor to present to you and your partner.
- 3). Wait while the doctor fills out and signs the certificate. The doctor will then advise both of you to sign the certificate.
- 4). Sign the document.
- 5). Take the certificate to to the clerk of the court from which you will receive your marriage license.
