How to Make a Band-Aid
- 1). Find something for the gauze. White, cotton fabric works best, because it contains no dyes that can bleed into a wound. Cut the fabric slightly larger than the wound.
- 2). Heat the temporary gauze with an iron, drop it in boiling water for a few minutes, or apply antibacterial hand sanitizer to the pad.
- 3). Place the fabric over the wound.
- 4). Unroll tape pieces to hold the pad in place and cut them longer than the gauze.
- 5). Tape the pad on each side to keep dirt out and hold the bandage in place. If you do not have any tape, use strips of fabric to tie the gauze to the wound.
- 6). Change the bandage at least once a day to reduce the risk of infection.
