How to Apply for a Duplicate Auto Title in Kentucky
- 1). Print out and complete the Application for a Kentucky Certificate of Title or Registration (see Resources). Fill out all of the required information, which includes noting that the title application is for a duplicate title, listing a reason for the duplicate title, your name and your vehicle's information. You do not need to fill out the "Certified Inspector" section.
- 2). Visit the Department of Motor Vehicles' office locator page (see Resources). Enter your ZIP code in the "What's your Location?" box and press "Enter" on your keyboard.
- 3). Look for the closest county clerk's office. Call the number listed. Ask how much notary fees will cost for a duplicate title. As of January 2011, you'll need $4 for the title fee plus the notary fees.
- 4). Visit the county clerk's office. Hand in your duplicate title application. Pay $4 plus the notary fees. You will receive your title in the mail.
