The Differences in the 2008 Acura TL Types
- The 2008 Acura TL is a four door sedan that is available in several different designs. Among them are the AT, Type S AT, and Type S MT. The 2008 TL was first priced between $33,000 and $38,000; as of late 2010, it is valued between $25,000 and $28,000. The TL comes in beige, bronze, red, silver, black, and blue.
- The regular AT and MT versions are 189.3 inches long, 75.4 inches wide and 56.7 inches tall. The Type S versions are 189.8 inches long with the same width and height as the other two versions. The regular AT version has 12.5 cubic feet of cargo room, while all other versions have 12.3 cubic feet of room.
- The Type S model comes standard with a rear spoiler, while the regular AT and MT versions do not. However, the regular versions can be upgraded with spoilers.
- Navigational aid and telematic systems come standard in all versions except for the regular AT edition.
- The regular AT version comes with a 3.2 liter V6 engine and 258 horsepower. All other versions have a 3.5 liter V6 engine with 286 horsepower. All of the AT versions come with five-speed automatic overdrive transmissions. The MT versions have six-speed manual overdrive transmissions. For the 258 horsepower engine versions, torque is rated at 233 pound-feet per 5,000 rpm. For the 286 horsepower versions, torque is 256 pound-feet at 5,000 rpm. The stroke is 3.39 for the 258 horsepower engine versions and 3.66 for the 286 horsepower engine versions.
- The regular AT version gets 18 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The Type S AT version gets 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. All MT versions get 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
- Limited slip differential is only available on the MT models. An electronic parking aid is standard for all versions except the regular AT. However, it can be added to the AT for an additional cost.
