How to Make Snake Scales Out of Sequins

    • 1). Work in a straight line sewing the sequins onto the bottom of the fabric. Thread the needle and tie a knot in the end of the thread. Bring the needle up through the back of the fabric to the front. Thread a sequin onto the thread, and drop it down onto the fabric. Place the needle just to the right of the sequin and pull through the back of the fabric. Bring the needle back up through the sequin. Place the needle just to the left of the sequin and pull through the back of the fabric. Bring the needle back up through the center of the sequin. Place the needle just to the top of the sequin and pull through to the back side.

    • 2). Bring the needle up through to the front of the fabric, one sequin-width from the hole in the last sequin. Thread a sequin onto the needle and sew the sequin as instructed. Continue across the fabric, completing the first row. Tie off the thread on the back side of the work as needed.

    • 3). Bring the needle up through the fabric, coming just above the point where the first two sequins of the previous row meet. Thread a sequin onto the needle and sew down as instructed. Continue to sew on the sequins of this row in the same way across the work. This forms the first two alternating rows that look similar to roofing tiles or snake scales.

    • 4). Continue sewing alternating rows of sequins until you complete the project.
