Other factors include congenital malformations, history of substance abuse or smoking, increased maternal age, low socioeconomic status, maternal infection, hypertension, preeclampsia or eclampsia, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, multiple gestations, prior preterm delivery, race or ethnicity, stress, obesity or poor diet, and use of artificial reproductive technology with subsequent multiple births.
