- 1). Raise up the front of the vehicle using the jack and set it on the jack stands. Make sure that the vehicle is solidly on the stands before crawling underneath it. Take off the front wheels using the tire iron and set them out of the workspace.
- 2). Unbolt the bottom of the strut from the steering knuckle using a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Tap the side of the steering knuckle with the mallet to break the bottom of the strut free.
- 3). Pop the hood and use the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket to unbolt the strut from the strut tower. Before you remove the last bolt, lean over the fender and hold the strut with one hand while loosening the bolt with the other. Once the bolt is off, pull the strut out of the fenderwell using your hand and set it to the side.
