Search Engine Optimization Tutorials

If you're new to the topic of SEO, some search engine optimization tutorials might be just what you need. While SEO is a diverse and complex topic, there are certain core fundamentals that, once learnt, make the process so much simpler. Here's what you need to know:

As with most things, search engine optimization tutorials come in two formats - those which are paid for (ranging from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars) and those which are free. To be perfectly honest, there are a lot of free tutorials available on the internet that are just as good, if not better than many of the very expensive ones. I'm not going to name any of them, but you can easily just Google the term "free SEO course" and you'll find a whole bunch of them.

When looking for search engine optimization tutorials, paid or free, you want to make sure that they cover certain fundamental SEO concepts. If anything, make sure that the tutorial covers at least the following two topics in depth: on-site and off-site optimization.

On-site optimization has to do with all of the elements of the actual website itself. This includes, but is not limited to - meta tags, title tags, keywords, keyword density, internal linking structures and image tags, as well as an introduction to Google Webmaster Central and Google Analytics. On-site optimization is the essential starting point for any decent search engine optimization tutorial, so make sure that it is covered.

Off-site optimization, on the other hand, has to do with all of the SEO elements not on the actual site itself - in other words, on the internet. Off-site is all about building high quality links to your site, from other relevant websites. Link building, as it is known, is quite a large topic, and has many different approaches by different people, so make sure that the search engine optimization tutorials that you consider cover this topic in depth. Some optimizers claim that off-site optimization constitutes up to 90% of any website's SEO success, so don't overlook this element.

As mentioned earlier, SEO is a large topic, and by its very nature, is one of great controversy, with "experts" seemingly contradicting each other day in and day out, as the topic evolves and develops. This said, the basics are all that you need to get your website well ranked, and paying attention to any of the many free search engine optimization tutorials out there should help you learn these basics and get your website to the top.
