In "Code of Conduct", the NCIS team discover that a Marine known for his practical joke is found dead on the Halloween Eve. They think that the victim's pranks may contribute to ghoulish retribution. Also, Ziva tries to adjust to her new role on the team. "Code of Conduct" airs on Tuesday, October 20 at 8/7c.
Brennan says the unresolved issues between Ziva and Tony (Michael Weatherly) will be dealt with to a lesser extent, but that conflict will continue to be important in the weeks ahead. "Certainly this episode will help resolve some - I won't say all, but some - of the questions that have been left hanging over the last couple of episodes," he says. "Those questions are in the process of being answered, and what you'll have over the next couple of episodes is a resolution of the issues that they've grappled with in the very recent past."
CBS also scored a victory among adults 18-49 with a 4.0 rating. NBC finished second in the demographic with a 3.1, beating out FOX's 2.7. Soft demo numbers at 8 and 10 p.m. dropped ABC (2.0) to fourth. The CW drew a 1.0.
"My biggest concern, and I think [for] most of us, is to please the current NCIS fans first and foremost, because there's... a huge following," says the show's star, Chris O'Donnell. "If new people tune into the show, that's great, but I feel more pressure to live up to the [original fans'] expectations."
As the hunt for Ziva's replacement begins, Gibbs and his remaining team members must head back to work with the past still weighing heavily on their minds in the seventh season premiere of NCIS, Tuesday, Sept. 22 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Of all the characters, perhaps it's Ziva (Cote De Pablo) whose future is most hanging in the balance when season 6 wrapped up. Last we checked, she had been captured and all but dead, left behind in her native Israel after having Gibbs (Mark Harmon) chose between her and Tony (Michael Weatherly). She was being tortured and beaten for info on NCIS, and we still have no idea who's behind it - either her Mossad-heading father or the terrorists Rifkin investigated?
From the looks of things, it's not just Rocky Carroll who'll be doing duty when NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles return this fall. Goth forensic specialist Abby, played by Pauley Perrette, will also drop by the NCIS spin-off, showrunner Shane Brennan confirms.
