The retiree must be at least 50 years old. In case the spouse of a retiree is under 50 years of age, he or she can still retire in Thailand provided he or she is considered a dependent of the retiree as indicated his or her Thailand visa.
A monthly income of 65,000 THB or a bank account amounting to 800,000 THB must be shown. It could also be a combination of both. (300,000 THB bank deposit + 30,000 THB monthly income x 12)
To be able to go to Thailand immediately, it is advisable to apply first for a Non-Immigration O visa. While in Thailand, the retiree can process the conversion of his or her visa to a retirement visa.
For visa renewals, the retiree is still required to present a bank account with a balance of 800,000 THB. Otherwise, upon expiration of the retirement visa, the retiree will be sent out of the Kingdom.
