How to Replace the AC Motor in a 2006 Chevy Silverado

    • 1). Open up the passenger door. Locate the blower motor cover, which is underneath the glove box and is circular in shape. Unplug the wiring to the blower motor. Unbolt the cover from the assembly with the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket and pull it away to reveal the blower motor.

    • 2). Locate the retaining tab, which sticks out parallel to the firewall and points towards the driver's side of the dashboard. Pull down on the retaining tab and then turn the blower motor assembly counterclockwise. Drop the blower motor out of the dash. Pry the fan off of the blower motor with the two flathead screwdrivers.

    • 3). Push the fan onto the replacement blower motor to lock it in place. Lift the replacement blower motor up into the climate control system and turn it clockwise until the retaining tab contacts the same position as the original blower motor. Reinstall the blower motor cover with the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket, then plug in the wiring harness.
