I am going to share tips on how to stop overeating at parties especially how to handle those surprise foods that cause an instant craving.
If you find parties a dieting stumbling block then you will benefit from taking the next 2 minutes to read on.
Stop Overeating 1.
Arrive full.
Have something low calorie and high volume in your belly when you arrive at the party.
Eat a plate of raw veggies or salad or down a full glass of water before arriving at the party and the decadent treats will be much less tempting.
2.
Go for the protein.
If you are at a party chances are good that there will be some lean protein choices.
Go for the shrimp, turkey or even ham.
Protein is very satisfying and having in your stomach helps your body process any carbohydrates you might eat turning less of them into fat.
3.
Smaller plates do the trick.
Eat off the dessert size plates instead of the dinner plate.
Studies have shown that we eat with our eyes so if we look down and see a full plate even if it is a smaller plate we tend to be more satisfied with the amount we eat.
4.
Eat mindfully.
A tendency is to "zone out" and just absent-mindedly grab any and every food item but if you pause for a few seconds to look at the food you are about to eat and pay attention to the aroma and taste then you will slow down and naturally eat less.
5.
If it isn't wonderful, don't eat it.
This goes along with mindful eating.
If you taste a food and you do not absolutely love it, don't eat it.
The calories aren't worth it.
6.
Don't try to deny yourself the surprise food.
The basic truth is when we tell ourselves we cannot have something we want it more.
If the host brings out your favorite cake allow yourself to have a small piece but be smart about it and have a low calorie healthy snack (raw vegetables) on your plate to nibble afterward.
You will be much less likely to go back for more of your high calorie treat.
You can stop overeating at parties when you have these tips working for you.
