How to Troubleshoot Whirlpool Electric Ranges
- 1). If there seems to be no power at all, double-check to make sure that the range is completely plugged in. Check the circuit breaker responsible for the range to make sure it has not been tripped.
- 2). If the oven door does not properly close, check closely to see if the hinges are in good shape and not broken. The door could also be misaligned. Check to make sure that the door is inserted at the same level on both sides of the oven.
Sometimes a door spring can become loose. Open and close the oven door and pay attention to how the spring operates. If it is not providing any resistance, it may need to be replaced. - 3). If the food seems to cook more quickly on one side of the oven than the other, the oven may not be even. To test if the oven is flat, place some water in a baking pan and place it on an oven rack. If the water gravitates one way or the other, that means the interior of the oven is not even. Adjust the feet at the bottom of the range until level.
- 4). If the food inside the oven burns on the outside but the inside is not properly cooked, it is best to check the range's exhaust vent. Look for anything inside the vent that might impede air from moving freely through it.
- 5). Check the fuses. Many of the problems incurred are simply because a fuse was blown. If a fuse needs to be replaced, remember to unplug the range before doing so.
