Bedbugs - Dealing With the Blood Thirsty Crawlers
A lot of people know nothing about bedbugs until they find themselves one day scratching their skin raw for no apparent reason.
The best way to avoid getting bedbugs is simple; know your enemy.
The bedbug looks like a common lentil.
It is brown and practically flat but can be seen with the naked eye if you are observative.
Being flat and so small they can hide in the tiniest of places you can think of and this is why there is a myth running around that bedbugs are invisible.
Bedbugs do not have the power of flight nor do they jump very high like the fleas.
One thing that they are good at however is running pretty fast.
They mainly come out in the dark while you are asleep to sip on your blood without you being aware.
Another myth that you have to get out of your mind is the belief that bedbugs only like dirty people or can only be found in dirty places.
On the contrary, you can find thousands of infested hotels that are spic-and-span and people with clean hygiene still having bedbugs.
Basically this means that you are not exempt from them unless you take heed of some simple rules.
So how does one deal with bedbugs? 1.
Examine your mattress for blood spots.
This is normally their favorite location as it is near their source of quenching their thirst.
Move slowly inch by inch over the mattress and you are sure to come across a couple of live bedbugs staying still.
2.
The first thing that you have to do is to seal the mattress before making any other move.
A lot of people make the mistake of hauling the mattress all the way down to the garbage thus letting the bed bugs go all over the rest of the house.
Once you have sealed the infested mattress, then you can proceed to dispose of it accordingly.
3.
Spray all of your beddings with a recommended bug spray.
Once you are done with this seal them all up in a plastic bag and deliver them to your steam laundry for steam cleaning.
4.
Spray the rest of your house with the recommended bug spray watching out to pay special attention to the curtains, carpets, cracks and corners or edges.
These are the usual locations for them to breed and hide.
5.
Always make sure to perform regular inspections of your home for bedbugs because as mentioned above, your home can be as clean as a whistle and still be invaded by bedbugs.
