The item cloth is like gold in World of Warcraft.
It sells pretty fast in the auction house as it is the main ingredient used for leveling one of the most useful profession in the game, First Aid.
Cloth is made into bandages for healing.
The higher the level of bandage the better it can heal.
Another profession that uses cloth is Tailoring which makes clothes for low armor classes like mages, rouges and warlocks to name a few.
It is also used in making items using Engineering and Blacksmithing.
Because of four of the professions heavily use cloth in their recipes, it is in extremely high demand, You can find cloth of all types will fly off the auction house auctions in minutes during prime time.

In low level areas and most starting areas you will first encounter the type of cloth called linen.
Linen cloth drops usually at higher rates from humanoids.
A stack of 20 linen can sell well in the auction house at times 1 gold depending on the server.
One can get around 2 to 3 stacks of cloth in an hour most of a time.
Next level at around almost level 20 you will be fighting mobs that drops wool cloth.
Wool cloth are like mana from heaven as they fetch pretty high prices in the auction houses on most servers sometimes reaching 5 gold a stack.
Silk Cloth is the next type of cloth that you will encounter and demons and centaurs seem to drop a lot of these.
The other kinds of higher level cloth dropped from higher level mobs are mageweave, rune and fel cloth respectively and can fetch 10 to 30 gold a stack depending on the server which you are on.
Around 80 percent of the areas in World of Warcraft has a mob that drops some kind of cloth.
That is why its a commodity like gold.
When you level farm, you will get a lot of cloth drops so make sure you will always have around 5 to 7 free bag space to store these cloth especially if you are far from towns and cities and outposts.
Selling them to NPC's are not worth it so always sell to the auction house.
What makes cloth farming so appealing is they are stackable and fast moving.
