Should You Go to Your 20 Year High School Reunion?

I would hate to admit it but this past year, I went to my 20th high school reunion.
The years between my graduation and today have gone by so fast! It really is unbelievable watching the years go by! To be honest I had a few misgivings about going to my reunion.
After all, would I slip back to that awkward kid I was twenty years ago? After quite a bit of thought and a few discussions with friends and family, I decided to go and see what all the fuss is all about.
I went to high school in the 1980's and remember that I had a great time.
I wasn't popular but I had made quite a few friends over through the years, that by high school, I had many good friends.
It's funny, now to think that many of us lost touch.
In school, I was on the yearbook staff, which means that I spent quite a bit of time walking around campus with a camera taking tons of pictures of random high school life.
Many of the photos I was able to keep and still have them.
I decided that when I went to our reunion that I would bring our yearbook from 1990 and bring along many of the pictures that I had.
Going to my reunion turned about to be a great decision.
The high school pictures and yearbook pictures really served us well in "breaking the ice" that had formed over twenty years of separation.
The photos got us talking about our great memories, our friendships and all the great times we had.
We also got to talking about our own families, our own kids, the friends that passed away or those who moved away.
I am not sure what kept me so hesitant to go to my reunion, but I really enjoyed the time.
Now we are able to keep in better touch with social networking, email, cellphones, and a variety of other websites that are great for sharing photos.
In school, I personally went through several phases.
And at each phase, I had a particular hair cut or hair style.
I went through a rebellious phase, a natural phase, and the use of a lot of hair gel and hair color.
Yes, I think I was out of control.
Fortunately, I was able to take to take lots of pictures! Looking back with these photos, as crazy as they were, brought a big smile - and some tears to my face - and I just loved it.
When I think about it, I happy to think that my next reunion will be just as special.
