DIY Vinyl Wall Clings
- 1). Create your design. Draw it on a piece of paper and make any modifications until you are happy with the result.
- 2). Purchase enough rolls of self-adhesive vinyl in the desired colors to make your design.
- 3). Roll the vinyl out on the floor or on a large table with the printed side up.
- 4). Duplicate your design on the printed paper side of the self-adhesive vinyl with the marker. Drawing the design on the vinyl side is an option, but it does not allow for correcting any mistakes or making modifications. Take note that since you are drawing on the back side of the vinyl, the design will be in reverse on the wall. Any elements of the design that should be on the right will be on the left once the wall cling is cut out.
- 5). Carefully cut along the marked outline of the design.
- 6). Check the wall to be sure it is clean and dry. If there is any moisture, dust or film on the wall, the vinyl will not stick.
- 7). Place the cut out design on the wall. Starting at the top, slowly peel the paper backing off a little at a time, pressing the vinyl onto the wall. Don't try to peel it off all at once. If the cutout folds over on itself, the vinyl adhesive will be difficult to pull apart.
- 8). Use the edge of a ruler or a stiff card like a credit card to smooth the vinyl down, pressing out air bubbles as you work your way down to the bottom.
