How to Replace a Weed Eater Fuel Filter

    • 1). Start and run the engine until the tank shuts off completely, drying out the fuel in the tank and carburetor. Open the cap to the fuel tank.

    • 2). Curve the metal wire into a hook with a straight end. Reach into the fuel tank with the hook end of the wire. Lift the fuel line, with attached filter, up toward the opening of the tank.

    • 3). Reach into the tank with pliers and pinch the filter in the pliers. Pull the filter straight off the end of the line. Throw away the old fuel filter.

    • 4). Insert the nozzle of the replacement fuel filter straight down into the end of the fuel line. Press and twist the filter down to make sure it is anchored to the end of the line.
