7 Reasons Why You Should NOT Have Voted

1.
He looks like me.
This is unfortunately one of the most popular reasons that people vote for a candidate.
This sad and depressing, if the amount of melanin in the skin will let you register and vote than you should not be voting.
Many people say that when John Kennedy beat Richard Nixon for the presidency it was because Kennedy looked better on the first televised debate ever.
Nixon was sweating due to the studio lights.
What a sad testimony to our level of consciousness in the 1960,s.
Unfortunately in 2008 we are not much better, there are still those who will go into the poll booth and pull the lever and be very proud that they voted for the one that looks like them.
2.
Party Allegiance.
These are the people who pick a party that has a set of believes that are close to theirs, the problem is there has never been a party that will agree with everything that you believe.
The reason for this is that you are an individual not a party.
Individuals' change, maybe your vote on abortion changes when it happens to your daughter or maybe the political party in office did things that you did not agree with for the last 8 years.
If you are voting because you have an allegiance to a party than you should not have voted.
3.
Your Finances.
Some people vote for the candidate that will help their finances.
This may be a little bit of a stretch for many people but as Rick Warren said in his book " It is not all about you".
Life is about others as well as yourself.
You should be voting for the one who will best improve the finances of all the people.
Do not vote because a particular tax cut may help you or your business, think of the whole not only yourself.
Many on Wall Street did not think of the whole but only of their personal gain and in the end everyone ended up suffering.
This is why candidates say different speeches in different areas of the country, basically they tell you what you want to hear about YOUR situation, they are well aware that people want to here what affects them not the whole.
If this is your thinking you should not have voted.
4.
Change.
this is a popular word from both parties; the problem is change is not an answer to a problem.
Change says I do not like a situation but it does not give you a solution.
I hear so many people say they are voting a certain way because they want a change but you must know what you are changing to.
Change for change sake can lead to a bigger problem later.
Change is not enough; you must know specifically what you are changing to.
Change means nothing, what something is being changed to is the answer.
If you voted because you wanted a change but were not sure what you are changing to you maybe should not have voted.
5.
Rumors.
this is short and sweet.
If you cannot confirm it as a fact then you should not treat it as a fact.
The Internet is packed with rumors, you can type in anything and there will be a rumor about it.
Do not believe anything about a candidate's belief unless they themselves say it.
This is why we are all hurt when those who get a chance to question candidates do not ask really hard questions.
We are not blunt enough we candidates; we often want our questions to sound intelligent and well written.
If you voted because of an Internet rumor then you should not have voted.
6.
Entertainers.
This is silly but unfortunately it is still very much in use today.
Every big election someone feels it is a great idea to get the latest pop star or actor to go on television and tell you to "Rock the Vote".
It does not matter what political views these entertainers have as along as people like them and they are cool.
In 2004 thousands of young people were suppose to change the election results because rap stars and actors were telling you who to vote for but the results were just the oppose, the pop stars had little if any affect.
If you voted because a famous person told you who to vote for, maybe should not have voted.
7.
Gut feeling.
It may not be popular but if your gut feeling is telling you to sit it out and not vote than just do not vote.
You are not forced to vote just because others tell you it is a must.
It is not a must...
it is a choice.
As a former German said concerning World War 2 and Hitler, "We were just doing what everyone else said to do.
" Do not follow the crowd follow your inner guides, if you voted just because everyone said you had to, you probably should have voted.
