How to Replace the Foam in Honda CRX Seats
- 1). Brush away loose foam particles with the plastic brush. Sand down any parts of the seat frame that is exposed and rusting.
- 2). Inspect the seat for areas where the seats have holes and are missing foam. Cut the new seating foam to fit the holes in your seating. Try to get the fit as exact as possible as this will increase the durability of the refurbished seat once completed.
- 3). Spray the damaged sitting area and new seating foam with spray adhesive and insert it into the damaged area of the seat. Seating foam usually needs to be layered in order to successfully fill the holes and gaps in the seat.
- 4). Use masking tape to secure the foam in place. It's important to use enough tape so the foam has something extra anchoring it down. Use two or more pieces of tape depending on the size of the hole in the seating.
- 5). Apply the cushion. Although foam is soft, it isn't very durable. The cushion will act as extra padding and protection for the foam. Decide which area you'll work on next and match up one cushion to the area of the seat. Spray the old seat foam and the back of the cushion with adhesive and firmly press it onto the old seating. Repeat with each area of the chair. When you're finished, every visible surface of the seat should be completely covered in cushion. Let the seat dry for 2 to 3 hours.
