With so many things to do and see, there is never a dull moment in Carolina Beach. - With hiking trails, marinas and secluded habitats, Carolina Beach State Park offers plenty of things to do and sights to see. The marinas are full of activities including boating, fishing, picnicking and camping. Visitors can also use the state park's hiking trails to sight-see. The park is home to many unique habitats and a diverse group of plants and animals. The rare Venus flytraps are common to the park and can be found on the hiking trails, as well as exotic birds that thrive in the coastal environment. The secluded campground gives view to a beautiful cape and the natural surroundings of the park.
- Filled with thousands of gallons of saltwater, the North Carolina Aquarium in Fort Fisher offers one of the largest exhibits on the East Coast. "Cape Fear Shoals" is the aquarium's largest saltwater exhibit at 24 feet deep and scaling two-stories tall. The exhibit is home to several unusual species of sharks, eels and stingrays, and the "Cape Fear Conservatory" houses the rare albino alligator, Luna. The aquarium also offers dive shows, live feedings, animal encounters and arts and crafts for the kids.
