How to Camp at Emerald Isle, North Carolina

    • 1). Stay at the HTP Resort for campers at Emerald Isle, North Carolina. The resort is located on the coast, where you can walk to the beach right from your campsite. Peak season rates for prime spots nearest to the beach are $88 a night with full hookups for the 2010 season. Sites farther from the beach are $78 a night with full hookups. Rates farthest from the beach are $65 a night with only water and electric hookups available. There are also no hookup areas available for $50 a night.

    • 2). Bring fresh drinking water. The resort does have running water for laundry, toilets, showers and sinks but you will need to bring your own drinking water.

    • 3). Bring a tent if you do not plan to bring a trailer. Bring a canopy and folding lounge chairs for shade and relaxation.

    • 4). Bring a grill to cook on if you are sleeping in a tent,or do not have a stove in your trailer.

    • 5). Set up camp. You may park at the campsite spot. Set up your tent or trailer. If you bring a trailer, full hookups and cable TV are available.

    • 6). Enjoy the on-site activities and facilities. The resort has a swimming pool, game room and playground. There are also three heated bathhouses, a laundry room and sinks for dishwashing. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, there is a full-time event coordinator who hosts family friendly events, which include sand building contests, Fourth of July parades and live music. There are also church service on Sundays.

    • 7). Rent a bike from Hwy 58 Bicycles. Spend the day biking up and down the coastline. Visit the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores, which is about a half hour bike ride away.

    • 8). Purchase a fishing license and fish on the Bogue Inlet Pier. Out-of-state residents can purchase a five-day fishing license for $10.
