Selling Stock Photography Online

If you are reading this article, you have probably met or heard of people who are making money out of selling their pictures online. As a matter of fact, I am proud to admit that I am one of those people, and actually took this passion to a more advanced level: I am currently making a living selling my pictures online.

When I first started, two years ago, I was probably just like you are now. I had no experience, but I was willing to put my digital camera to a better use. So, when I went on a trip to Thailand, I took every chance I had to immortalize the places I found interested. I took a total of about 4000 photos in 2 weeks and decided to give it a shot and try to sell them online.

What happened next was unbelievable! I made a total profit of a little more than $10.000 during the next 2 months.

Even though you may not be willing to spend much time taking photos, even working 2 hours a month could bring you a nice profit. From my own experience, I can say that the average amount of money paid for a single photo is about $2.50. It may not seem that much, but if you could take 100 photos during those 2 hours (which is easily achievable), you would make $250!

"But who would want to buy my photos?"

You may be a little surprised to find out how many individuals are actually willing to pay regular people for their photos, rather than go and pay hundreds of dollars to professional photographers. All sorts of people are looking for unique photos online: website owners, Realtors, even magazines.

In order to get to these people, you will have to upload your photos to specialized websites, where buyers will find your creations. Another way to go is to post your offer on forums, in the Buy & Sell sections, or even eBay.

No matter which method you choose, all you need is a digital camera and some interest. When I started, I had no clue about this business, but still managed to turn it into a full-time paying job.
