How to Check Ticket Violations
- 1). Ask the police officer during your next traffic stop if you have any outstanding tickets. At times, warnings are issued instead of citations, and the officer will be able to verify whether you have any active or unresolved violations.
- 2). Contact your state's Department of Motor Vehicles. Your local DMV will be able to verify whether you have any outstanding tickets. Ask where and how you can pay any outstanding penalties.
- 3). Search the Department of Motor Vehicles website. Most states offer an online database for drivers to refer to when looking for their driving records. Some sites even offer the ability to pay tickets online.
- 4). Contact your local courthouse. If the violation occurred in your area, the court clerk will be able to tell you if and when the violations were paid. Settling outstanding traffic violations may require a trip to the courthouse.
