Tips For Married Couples to Achieve Their Weight Loss Goals
There are numerous challenges for married couples attempting to change their lifestyle to match their weight loss goals.
They have to both want to commit to a fitness and meal plan and their opinions on how to go about doing that can vary greatly.
These changes can be very daunting but if a husband and wife can come to some sort of agreement and motivate each other they can share in something that can be very fulfilling and exciting.
Below are some ideas on how married couples can overcome some of these obstacles.
Check them out and hopefully institute some of them.
1.
Communicate with respect and understanding.
Talking about fitness and health should be no different than if you are talking to your wife about possibly buying a car or the groceries.
Talk about the positives and negatives of different types or workout routines and meal plans.
After doing some research come to an agreement that you both can get behind and can support.
As a couple you might decide that you both will do the same workout or do something different from each other but support and motivate each other to stick with it.
Discuss what fits for you as a couple.
There is no one size fits all, but if there is open communication then the probability of developing a plan that you both can stick with is greatly increased.
However, if your partner reacts with some negativity or indifference don't get upset or frustrated.
Instead expect it, and take it in stride.
My lovely wife just tends to be negative about things.
However, if I slowly build a good argument over time in a loving and respectful manner she tends to start seeing things my way.
Just understand that lifestyle changes are a huge commitment, so don't pressure him or her into anything they don't want to do.
Just share your experience with them and they slowly will be motivated by your success.
Isn't imitation the best form of flattery anyways? 2.
Model good eating and workout habits.
This one is pretty straight forward...
If you are going to talk the talk you better walk the walk.
The best motivator and selling point you could have to motivate a loved one to live a healthy lifestyle is to be living one yourself.
Show him or her how you are cooking your food, materials you are reading, or workouts you are doing.
Make sure to be positive and energetic when discussing it.
If your husband or wife truly loves and respects then they will show and interest and could probably easily be talked into giving it a try.
Also, it doesn't necessarily have to be you that models the behavior you want.
Show articles of people he or she might respect talking about health benefits and what they do to workout.
Find out what friends and family is doing and see if there would be an interest in trying some of what they are doing.
Use whatever resource you think would peak interest, but just know when you are coming on to strong.
You don't want him or her to ignore you out of spite.
I hate that.
