How to Fix Alligator Cracks on Woodwork

- 1). Scoop out a marble-sized glob of wood dough on the end of a putty knife.
- 2). Smash the wood dough into the cracks. Smear and flatten the wood dough with force as you spread it into the cracks. Use more if needed to fill all the cracks. Let dry for 1 hour.
- 3). Fold a piece of 100-grit sandpaper into thirds. Sand the hardened wood dough until the wood is blended and all of the cracks are gone. Dust off the wood with a soft brush.
- 4). Apply more wood dough if you find that you have missed cracks or that some cracks did not get enough to fill them.
- 5). Dip a cloth into the linseed oil. Apply the oil to the woodwork liberally. Let it soak in for an hour and wipe it off.
