A water maker uses reverse osmosis to convert sea water to pure drinking water. The sea water is drawn though a fine membrane from higher to lower concentrations, removing the impurities. Reverse osmosis uses high water pressure to force the contaminants, such as salt and minerals, through the membrane. The 2 GPM water maker makes the water clean enough to drink without adding chlorine. - If you plan to store the purified water for any length of time, adding chlorine will keep it from stagnating. The amount required is very low, no more than 1 oz per 150 gallons of water.
- The 2GPM water maker is efficient enough to produce clean water that is safe to drink. Adding chlorine is a precaution but is not necessary.
