How to Decipher Mars Candy Date Codes

    • 1). Locate the 10-digit string of numbers and letters on the back of the Mars candy package.

    • 2). Look at the first number. This number indicates the year in which the candy was made. For example, if the first number is 9, the candy was made in 2009. Starting in 2010, the first two numbers indicate the year the candy was made. For example, if the first two numbers are 10, the candy was made in 2010.

    • 3). Look at the second and third numbers (or third and fourth numbers for candy made in 2010 and beyond). These numbers tell you which weeks in the year the candy was made. For example, 06 indicates the candy was made in the sixth week of the year.
