- Each 1998 F-150 model comes with a heavy-duty front wishbone suspension, an anti-roll bar and torsion springs. The rear suspension consists of rigid leaf springs. The 1998 F-150s use re-circulating ball steering, which consists of a worm gear with ball bearings.
- Each model is rear-wheel drive with part-time four-wheel-drive capabilities. The 1998 F-150 comes with a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive, with an available four-speed automatic with overdrive. For each model, front disc and rear drum brakes are standard.
- Depending on the options, the 1998 F-150's turning radius varies from 20 to almost 26 feet. Each can carry a payload of up to 1,955 lb., with a gross vehicle weight of 5,500 to 6,000 lb. The maximum trailer weight for each model is about 2,300 lb.
