1969 Dodge Coronet Specs

    Engine and Performance

    • The 440 Six Pack was the new optional engine for 1969. It produced 390 horsepower at 4,700 rotations per minute. The single, four-barrel carburetors of earlier Coronet models were replaced with three two-barrel carburetors. The new 440 Six Pack produced 390 horsepower at 4,700 revolutions per minute and 490 foot-lbs. of torque at 3,200 revolutions per minute. It could reach 60 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds and travel 1/4 mile in 13.65 seconds at 105.14 miles per hour. Other available engines were the 225 Slant Six, 318 cubic inch V8, 340 cubic inch V8, 383 cubic inch V8 and the famous 426 HEMI. The 426 HEMI engine could produce 425 horsepower at 5,000 revolutions per minute and 490 foot-lbs. of torque at 3,200 revolutions per minute.

    Exterior

    • Exterior options for the Coronet line included a performance fiberglass Lift-off hood for the 440 Six Pack. The Coronet R/T had an optional Ramcharger fresh air induction system with twin hood scoops and the R/T medallion was moved from the front fender and added to the rear bumblebee stripe. Other options included a trailer towing package and polished aluminum wheel moldings.The Coronet was available in 24 colors. Metallic options included silver metallic, dark blue metallic, dark green metallic, bright turquoise metallic and copper metallic. Nonmetallic paint options included Hemi orange, white, black, yellow and cream.

    Interior

    • Interior options included carpet, wood-grained instrument panel, map light, ashtray light, glove box light and Rallye Pack gauges. Drivers could choose an A833 four-speed manual transmission with the gear shifter mounted on the floorboard. They could also choose an A727 Torqueflite three-speed automatic transmission in which the shifter was mounted on the steering column. Optional interior colors totaled 25, including metallic shades such as everglade green metallic, gold tan metallic, tweak tan metallic, Baltic blue metallic and saber silver metallic. Nonmetallic interior paint options included dove white, ivory, desert tan, rally red and jewel black.
