Take A Step Back And Lighten The Load

I was driving down the street the other day, and as I approached the end of the cul-de-sac I couldn't believe my eyes.
There was a crew of construction workers ripping the approach of a driveway out.
No big deal...
right? Right, this happens everyday.
Fine, but the part I found unbelievable was the amount of concrete they were putting in the trailer.
They had a half-ton pickup hooked up to this pretty beefy trailer.
Half-ton pickups are not designed to pull "beefy" trailers.
They are designed for some "light" work and to pull small loads.
If you want to pull a trailer full of concrete, get a one ton or larger pickup.
But this isn't about pickups.
Pretty soon, one of the workers noticed the tongue of the trailer, where it connects to the truck, was about two inches from touching the ground.
This is bad.
I watched as they all gathered around to discuss the problem.
All of them except the skid-loader operator.
He kept putting concrete in the trailer, but not for long.
Then it was if a light bulb went off.
I thought they were going to unload some of the concrete.
Nope.
They decided to just move the load more towards the back of the trailer.
I forgot to mention, the tires on the front of the pickup were already barely touching the ground.
This is no exaggeration either.
Thankfully, it must've been the "boss," noticed they weren't gaining much ground and they started unloading the concrete.
Very wise move.
They were going to have to make at least two trips anyway, so they might as well make it safe.
As far as I know, the only thing you steer from the back is a boat.
This truck would've been like trying to drive a boat with a prop in the front.
And barely in the water at that.
In today's world their are far too many of us trying to carry a load that is way to big and heavy.
We're trying to do it all right now and we're always "busy.
" And don't get busy confused with productive, they are completely different animals.
What I'm suggesting is you step back and take a look at your life.
If the "boss" hadn't looked at that truck who knows how full they would've kept piling that concrete.
What do you have in your life right now that's causing stress, that you don't have to have? You don't have to have that new car, tv or all those new clothes.
Not if they are causing financial strain--which leads to stress that leads to arguments, that leads to...
What would you change to alleviate stress from your life? I bet that pickup wished he was a dump truck to take some stress off his axles, and every other part.
I didn't ask what can you change, because you can change everything over time and with a plan.
If you want to bad enough.
Ok, almost everything for you cynics...
you can't stop a tsunami, etc.
Analyze your life, write everything about it down.
Make a list of what you like and don't like.
Then, it's just the process of elimination.
The great thing about being human is you can start over and fix things--if you're willing.
Unfortunately, if you don't lighten the load and reassess the situation, something is bound to snap.
Throw some of those chunks out of your life.
You'll feel better, and so will the people around you.
