Starboard Projects

    Starboard Qualities and Uses

    • According to Power and Motoryacht, Starboard is a revolution in marine construction supplies "for everything from rod holders to boarding ladders. It will not warp and will not degrade when exposed to sun, moisture, salt, or most chemicals. It's also stain-resistant and easy to clean, never needs refinishing" (see Reference 1). Projects that will take a beating not only from constant spray of the water but from human traffic as well are particularly suited to starboard material. Some examples include stair treads, decking, and other accessory holders.

    Handrails

    • A crucial component of many cabin-style boats are the handrails that flank the raised deck on either side of the cabin door. When the deck becomes slick with sea-spray, these handles can mean the difference between keeping a firm grip on the boat, enabling safer movement about the deck, and falling overboard for lack of anything to grasp. Often these handrails and made from wood or aluminum, both materials that degrade with repeated exposure to saltwater and weather. Making these handrails from Starboard instead can provide a boater with greater confidence that they will be there and secure when the need arises.

    Tables and Food Prep

    • Many boaters enjoy eating and preparing food while spending time aboard their craft. Because of its durability and easily wiped-down surface, tables and food prep surfaces made from Starboard can make the process of clean-up and maintenance much easier. Also, using starboard to create cabinets and cabinet doors for food and other storage needs can ensure that the apertures and closures of these doors won't sag and become misshapen over time.
