Paintball Game Types

    Common Games

    • Capture the Flag is one of the most common paintball game types. The objective will be familiar to anyone who has played other types of Capture the Flag, whether on the schoolyard with your friends or in video games, such as Halo 3. To play capture the flag, players must divide into teams of two. Each team is given a flag, and this flag must be placed in their home base, in an area where the other team is capable of seeing and grabbing it. Teams then split up into defenders and attackers. The object of the game is to grab the opposing team's flag and return it to their own base.

Manhunt is another popular paintball game type. In Manhunt, one person is pitted against the rest of the players. The hunted person is typically given the weakest weapon available, such as a paintball pistol. The other players may use a weapon of their choosing. Hunters give the hunted a specified amount of time to hide and then the hunt begins. The objective for the hunted is to travel to a designated location, typically as stealthily as possible, within a given time frame. Variations of Manhunt might have the hunted with the most powerful weapon, and the hunters with pistols, or increase the effective health of the hunted by allowing him to be shot multiple times before he is out.

    Medic Mania

    • Medic Mania is an interesting variation on the typical paintball scramble. In this game, players are divided into two teams, and each team chooses one player to be their medic. This medic will be given a weaker gun, such as the pistol used by the hunted in manhunt, or no gun at all. The medic should wear something signifying him as the team's healer. Once a player is shot, the player must crawl on the ground and is not allowed to shoot. If his medic can reach him without being shot, he can tag the injured player, shout "Heal" and allow the injured player to resume in battle. The game ends when all the players from one team are simultaneously "injured." Larger teams might choose to assign two medics per team.
