Video: How to Landscape Plants for Full-to-Partial Sun
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm garden designer Angela Price from Eden Condensed, small space garden design, and I'm standing on front of a garden bed that gets variations of sun throughout the day. And you'll see when you go to the nursery center that a lot of plants will say full sun, part sun, part shade. And you really need to take a look at your garden area before designing how you want to put your plants in to see what kind of sun it gets. We happen to be on the east side of the street and so this garden is going to get shade or part sun in the morning. And more full sun in the afternoon. So you want to find plants that will take both shade and sun. So it's important that you look at the little tab on the nursery, in the nursery center on the plant to make sure that you are putting the right plants in. So for example in this yard we've got Agapanthus, we have roses. There's some society garlic as well as lavender here. And these are all really great choices for a full to part sun yard. You want to put your taller plants in the back and your smaller plants in the front. So that way your taller plants won't block out the majority of the sun for the day. Also keep in mind how plants grow. So for example the lavender here will grow round and bushy. So you want to make sure that you put enough space in between your plants. So you've got the lavender here, there's a good three feet for the Agapanthus was planted there. So that way it will give those plants room to grow. And if you have the right plants in the right sun that will also ensure that they thrive. If you have any other questions about how to grow plants in the type of light environment that you have in your yard please contact me at edencondensed.com. Thank you very much.
