Home Security When You Live By An Alley

Whether you live in a good neighborhood or not, living by an alley puts you at higher risk of crime simply by virtue of the fact that it is easer for a perpetrator or thief to hide and conceal himself in the dark parts of the alleyway. As such, it is imperative that you take added home security precautions and make sure that you and your family members remain safe and out of harms way. Especially if you are the corner house on the street that is in closest proximity to the alleyway, it is crucial that you make the proper security arrangements so that perpetrators remain off your property.

To begin with, it is imperative that you make sure that the areas surrounding your home are luminous and well lit. if you leave a large area like an alleyway, unlit and dark, you run a higher risk of someone hiding there and it makes it that much more difficult for you to see what's going on. Make sure that you invest in motion censored lights that turn on when you approach them so that you will always have good visibility and never have to worry about someone hiding in the dark. It is a critical part of your home security to ensure that every part of your property is well lit and that you can see who or what is on your property at all times.

Likewise, it may be a good idea to invest in a home security camera which specifically monitors the part of your home that faces the alley. You can install the television monitor in the kitchen so that it doesn't draw too much attention but allows you to monitor the premises and see if the proper authorities need to be alerted for any reason. Always make sure that you lock your doors and windows and seeing as you are the corner house by the alley, it is imperative that you install bars on the windows so that if a perpetrator tries to break in, there is something barring him from entering.

You need to be incredibly vigilant about your home security and monitoring the goings on about your home as you live in a bit of a dangerous area simply by virtue of having the alley so close to you. Make up for that fact by following the simple steps outlined above and you shouldn't encounter any problems. Make sure that the members of your family and household are equally as cautious and attentive so that you make sure that everyone remains safe at all times. It is also important that you lock your windows and doors at all times and that you always leave a front light on so that you can see all around your property before you enter the door. Also, be sure that you fence off the area that faces the alleyway so that there is a barrier between your home and the street.
