How to Make a Chair Out of Old Skateboards
- 1). Cut four skateboard decks to 30 inches in length. Measure down from one curved end and cut the skateboard decks using a saw.
- 2). Set two skateboard decks so the curved ends are nestled together. Spread the cut ends so one skateboard deck is overlapping the other halfway. Screw the skateboard decks together. Pre-drill your holes and install the screws. Use 2-inch screws and place two in the center and two in the bottom of the skateboard decks to attach them. This creates one leg of your skateboard chair. Make a second leg using two additional skateboard decks.
- 3). To cut the seat out of another skateboard deck, measure 6 inches from each of the curved ends of the skateboard deck and draw a line. Cut the skateboard deck on those lines and discard the center piece. Apply wood glue to the cut edges and butt them together to create the seat. Turn the seat upside-down and install two connecting plates underneath the glued-together skateboard deck. Place one hole of the connecting plate on either side of the cut seam. Screw through the holes and into the skateboard deck using 1/2-inch screws. Let the seat dry overnight.
- 4). Attach your skateboard seat to your skateboard legs using L-brackets. Set your legs on the floor and set the seat on top of them. Turn the seat so the curved edges of the seat are opposite the curved edges of the legs. Adjust the legs until you have a sturdy support for your seat. Use a pencil to mark the spot where the legs touch the seat. Put the seat upside-down on your work surface and attach two L-brackets to the seat using 1/2-inch screws. Install the L-brackets on both sides of your seat. Hold your skateboard chair legs into place and screw through the L-brackets and into the skateboard legs.
