What Causes High Blood Pressure?

Is it normal that your blood pressure remains high although you are dieting and doing exercise? Many people believe that when they live healthy they can not get high blood pressure.
But that is wrong.
Fred is a firefighter and was always living pretty healthy.
He is forty five and of normal weight but he always has high blood pressure.
He eats quite healthy, a lot of fruits and vegetables, not too much fat and raw meat.
He is also doing forty minutes of cardio workout three times a week.
He never drinks any alcohol.
It looks like Fred is doing everything right.
From where is his high blood pressure coming from? There could be many other reasons.
Medications can have an impact.
But fortunately Fred does not need or take any drugs.
No doubt that the stress he has in his job is increasing his blood pressure but that is a normal increase which should go away after work when he relaxes.
But it remains high.
There could be simple genetic reasons.
If there is high blood pressure in the family history for no obvious reasons, Fred could suffer from it too and there is nothing he could do about it than taking medication to lower the pressure.
There is also compensatory hypertension.
That means that your body tries to compensate for a low heart rate by increasing the pressure.
If there is a constriction anywhere then in the arteries then the blood pressure will go up.
A high blood pressure is called a silent killer because the damages it causes remain undetected for a long time.
At least Fred knows his pressure is too high although he does not know why.
He decided to get a complete checkup to find all possible reasons.
The physician will also recommend the best medication for him to lower the pressure and to reduce the risks for future damages.
