Kate Middleton Expecting Her Second Baby

Updated October 20, 2014.

Kate Middleton is expecting her second baby with Prince William in April 2015. Their son, Prince George, was born in July 2013. Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, made headlines in 2013 when she was hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum, severe morning sickness, in her pregnancy with George.

She is currently under treatment for the same ailment at Kensington Palace, according to an official announcement.

The announcement also came with the note that Kate would not be attending a function today with her husband. In December 2012, the British Monarchy was forced to announce the first pregnancy due to Kate's hospitalization with the same pregnancy symptom. This was speculated to be an early announcement, only due to the hospitalization.

Prince George was born on July 22, 2013. He just celebrated his first birthday, a very common time for families to look at a second pregnancy. Though a second pregnancy is typically harder than the first given that you now have a baby or toddler that you are already caring for in your home. Granted, she lives in a palace, but she has appeared to be very close with her son and I can only image how hard it is to have severe morning sickness, to the point of requiring medical treatment for it, on top of mothering duties.

When Kate was hospitalized in her first pregnancy it was worldwide news for many reasons. Obviously the pregnancy, secondly bringing attention to hyperemesis, but also because there was a prank call placed to the hospital from a radio station.

The DJs pretending to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles were given information about the Duchess and put through to a second nurse. Later the nurse who put the call through committed suicide.

The couple married on April 29, 2011 after an eight year courtship that started out as a friendship.
