Walls

• If the teens' bathroom adjoins the bedroom, or bridges two bedrooms, the wall color should be an extension of those rooms, typically one of several colors used in the bedroom. Do not stop, however, with one simple coat of paint. Make it more interesting by adding another bold color in the form of horizontal stripes, wall stamps or cling-on images featuring their favorite theme. These could include Paris, butterflies or words.
  
  

Function

• A teen bathroom needs to be functional. Teens require a good deal of beauty products, facial cleansers, colognes and hair products, and they need a good place to store these things. Brightly colored metal and plastic storage baskets do wonders for helping teens keep their items organized. Under-the-counter sliding storage compartments also can be installed, and don't forget to put up extra wall hooks that are available in neat and unusual shapes. In addition, install a soap or shampoo dispenser on the bathroom wall to eliminate shampoo and liquid soap bottles.
  
  

Flooring

• Have fun with the your teen's bathroom floor. If you are looking to replace the flooring, consider using rubber floor tiles, which come in bright and bold colors. They also are cost effective and recycled, which is good for the environment. If you are just looking for area rugs, consider getting several fluffy bath mats in random colors.
  
  

Accessories

• Teen bathroom decorating relies heavily on accessories. You will need to be creative to find the accessories that aren't too boring or too fragile for your teen's bathroom. Purchase a jazzy shower curtain that coordinates with the walls, but adds a certain flavor of its own. Retro styles work very well in a teen's bathroom. As for toothbrush holders, trash cans and other fun items, visit the dollar store for a variety of brightly colored cups and bowls.
