How to Decorate a Bug Garden in a Baby Nursery

    • 1). Decide what kind of bugs you'll feature in the nursery. Several bugs would make appropriate baby nursery themes, because these bugs are brightly colored and have been used in the past as decorative motifs. These include butterflies, lady bugs, dragonflies and bumble bees.

    • 2). Start creating the garden atmosphere by painting the wall to replicate a garden. This mural should feature plants and flowers plus your bugs of choice. Make this wall a focal point in your baby's room.

    • 3). Add some three-dimensional bugs to the wall by looking for bug wall stickers or ceramic versions of your favorite bug. Usually you can find these types of accessories at local lawn and garden stores or at ceramic stores. Place these bugs on the wall so that they are part of the mural. You can add three-dimensional flowers to the mix as well by putting ceramic flower heads on the wall and painting stems on the wall under them.

    • 4). Put up a short picket fence in front of your garden scene. The pieces of the fence can be secured to the wall using a drill and some screws.

    • 5). Add additional bugs to the other walls as well as to the closet doors and to the furniture by painting them on or by using wall stickers.

    • 6). Choose bedding that features your bug theme. While it's possible to find a comforter with lady bugs or dragonflies on it, you also have the option of choosing colors that represent those bugs, like a red blanket with white or black polka dots.

    • 7). Paint the furniture with the garden motif. This will make the whole bedroom look like a garden. To do this, paint vines on the crib and the dresser as well as on the rocking chair. Stick some of your bug stickers on these items also.

    • 8). Collect bug-related pieces for accessories, like bug nightlights, music boxes and pillows for both the bed and the floor.

    • 9). Hang a bug net on the wall and store some bug stuffed toys inside.
