How To Get a Bird to Speak

It should come as no surprise that there are birds that actually do speak.
Now they might not speak in the same ways that humans do but it doesn't sound much different.
Depending on the species of bird, the speech can be just a couple of words or a number of sentences.
But few birds can really say more than just a few words.
The intelligent bird species' are capable of producing more sounds that appear to be voices than the less intelligent ones.
It really does depend on the type of bird that we are dealing with as to how much they will speak.
As far as animals go, birds can be fairly intelligent.
Thus it is not a shock that they can actually mimic sounds that they hear and actually remember the sounds for fairly long periods of time.
Birds enjoy being around other birds and often pick up sounds that they hear from them.
When there are no other birds around and they are in the company of people then they will imitate the sounds they hear from them.
It is possible to train birds to say things that you want to hear them say.
Often times if you repeat an action and associate that with a word or words then the birds will pick up on it.
They will make that sound when the action occurs in the future.
So you can try repeating words to your bird over and over until they get it.
You might also try different whistles or even songs with an intelligent bird.
You will probably see the most success with some of the more intelligent parrots.
They are often the birds that make the most speech like sounds.
African gray parrots are a good choice if you want a talking bird.
So enjoy teaching your bird to speak.
