Flow Training for Golf

    Origins

    • Flow training exercises incorporate the teachings of ancient Chinese and Indonesian methodologies. The training preaches easy movements and a sense of calmness throughout any activity. Trainers and coaches have taken these concepts and applied them to the game of golf.

    Function

    • The exercises in flow training are varied, but they all have specific goals. Some techniques stress muscle development. Coiling drills mimic the actions of a spring that unwinds in a "sequenced release." Squats and the ballistic movement of weights (which includes kettlebell exercises) are also used in golf flow training.

    Benefits

    • Flow training is designed to improve your golf game in a number of ways. The mental exercises of flow training keep you focused and balanced. The muscle development exercises increase torque, forearm strength and explosion. This causes more "whip" action when you swing, which adds acceleration and increases distance. Flow training also helps to eliminate wasted swing motions.
