The Side Effects I Experienced While Taking Diet Pills

Getting rid of unwanted pounds is very challenging.
More than a year ago, I attempted to slim down using weight loss supplements.
I experimented with an OTC herbal diet pill.
I thought that since that diet pill was herbal, it would be safer to take them.
I couldn't be more wrong.
About two weeks into taking such pills, I started to experience a number of side effects, the most worrying of which were the palpitations and increased blood pressure.
These side effects prompted me to stop using them.
I am not saying that all slimming drugs or supplements are ineffective or dangerous.
Then again, the problem with slimming pills is that they are only effective when you're using them.
Having lost hope that I can lose weight quickly through diet pills, I turned to dieting and exercising.
Knowing how much should I weigh, was the initial step I took prior to commencing my weight loss program.
I made use of BMI calculators and charts that are available on the Internet for such task.
Aside from determining how much should I weigh, I also looked into how much calories I should take in daily to lose weight.
The same website had a calorie calculator, and when I keyed in my height, actual and desired weight, gender, and activity level, I found out that I had to follow a 1,200 calorie diet in order to lose 2 pounds each week.
I consulted my physician first before I started my 1,200 calorie diet and he said it was alright provided I do not reduce my intake abruptly.
Apart from reducing my calorie consumption, I also made healthier food choices.
Hence, I made a conscious effort not to eat at fast food diners or gorging on foods that were packed with empty calories.
In addition to that, instead of gorging on junk foods, I try to consume 5 different veggies and 2 different fruits per day.
I also replaced simple carbs with complex ones, preferring to eat brown bread or rice instead of the usual ones.
I also diversified my protein intake, to include both plant and animal sources and eliminated saturated fats from my diet too, using unsaturated ones instead.
In order to realize my fitness objectives faster, I also made it a point to exercise.
I spend a total of five hours a week doing moderate intensity cardio workouts, and hit the gym to lift weights on two or more days each week.
In the office, I less the lift less often, and use the stairs instead.
Also, whenever I have errands that required travelling for short distances, I ride my bike or walk instead of driving my car.
It has been more than a year since I started dieting and exercising, and so far, I have managed to lose around 90 lbs.
If I can lose weight without slimming pills, you can too.
