How to EFile Your Form 4868?

If you think that your amount will be zero please put in on this line as well.
Line 5
This is the line to enter the total payments that you are planning to report on your actual return. So if you already made payment towards the amount owed then this is where you would write that.
Line 6
This will be the line to write the balance due. You will subtract line 5 from line 5 to get the total amount of tax due.
Line 7
You should on this line write what you plan on paying with your form 4868. You should strive to pay the total amount due at this time to avoid any late fees and penalties, which can be quite high. Some penalties reported have been ½ to 1% of total tax and over 25% a month for a late fee.
Line 8
This line is to be filled out if you are out of the country during this time period. So if you are working out of the country please check this box. You will automatically get a 2 month extension in our taxes for checking this box.

This line is for taxpayers who file form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ form. This is a special line made especially for these kinds of taxpayers. If you do get this form in the mail you will have to check his box.
