6 Great Minneapolis Hotels for Couples

Minneapolis hotels run the gamut from stately and historic to hip and boutique. We won't mention those cheap, family-oriented hotels -- those hotels you can find on your own, and they're hardly the place for couples planning a romantic visit to Minneapolis. These are recommended for a weekend getaway, post-wedding collapse, or vacation stay for two.

1. Chambers Hotel

Inside two landmark buildings, the updated Chambers is a sister hotel to New York's trendy art hotel.

2. Hotel Ivy

Close to both Nicollet Mall and the Orchestra Hall, the refined Hotel Ivy features homelike quarters, a sizeable spa, and room service from its highly regarded restaurant.

3. Grand Hotel Minneapolis

Expect luxury suite accommodations, marble baths, and possibly the best hotel in town.

4. Graves Hotel

The theme at this hotel is art + tech, and it's carried out with elements that include a specially commissioned edge-lit, etched glass headboard depicting a Minnesota landscape and a power shower with five body jets or whirlpool with integrated freestanding shower.

5. The St. Paul Hotel

Although it doesn't qualify as one of the Minneapolis hotels, the St. Paul Hotel is just across the border of its twin city. Built in 1910, it's retained some of its historic grandeur, tradition, and spaciousness. It's conveniently located near the St. Paul RiverCentre, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, Lawson Commons, and minutes from the Mall of America and Target Center.

6. Aloft Minneapolis

Opened 2008 in the downtown Mill District, Aloft Minneapolis is one of the new breed of hip, budget, boutique hotels with tall ceilings, large bathrooms, and other amenities to suit a traveling couple.More »
