With everything from canoeing to skiing on offer, you're bound to find something that you'll enjoy. Montreal has become increasingly affordable in recent years, especially if you book last minute holidays. With so much to do, you won't be disappointed!

Although Montreal is chilly during the winter months, this is when the city's parks become transformed into winter wonderlands. Make sure to wrap up warm if you're visiting between November and February as the temperature regularly drops below freezing. You can find all of the main winter sports on offer in Montreal's parks. Cross country skiing, ice skating, snowboarding and sledging are all popular activities that you can enjoy on late holidays here in the winter.

Jeanne-Mance Park is one of the most historic parks in the city. Head to the corner of Mount Royal Avenue to admire the grand art-deco fountain which was built in honour of the 19th century figure skater Louis Rubenstein. This is the place to come on all inclusive holidays in the autumn. During September and October you can expect to enjoy a cacophony of colour around the park, as the hundreds of trees drop their leaves.

It's worth hiring a car and heading just outside of the city to explore Montreal's nature parks, which are all within an hour's drive from the city centre. These parks are the perfect places to come for a day of hiking, cycling or just a relaxing stroll. Many of the parks have well-defined trails and it's worth following one of these to see the best spectacular sights. It may be worth going around a trail with the guide so that you can find out more about the varied flora and fauna, rare wildlife and historic sites.

Montreal's urban parks are a bit of countryside in the city. With over ten sprawling spaces found throughout the city, you've got a wide choice. These huge open spaces are within walking distance from city centre, so you won't have to go far for a bit of tranquillity. One of the most popular is Parc Jarry. As well the miles of lush green grass and lakes here, there are also sporting facilities that can be used by the public including a skate park, tennis courts and a swimming pool. You could quite easily spend a full day here without getting bored.
