A severe chronic pain in the head due to variety of reasons is known as migraine. A number of causes of migraine are known along with the various food items or habits such as smoking which may cause migraine. Further, a number of individuals are affected by it all over the world, the proportion of women affected from it being much larger than men.

Blood is carried into the brain by a number of arteries. If for any reason, the arteries might get tightened, the flow of blood to the brain can be affected, resulting in disruption in the flow of oxygen to brain.
