Swami Vivekananda Quotes

Swami Vivkenanada was well known as Narendranath Datta in his pre-monastic phases of life. He was born in Kolkata, India, on 12th January 1863. His parents were masters in different subjects, had deep devotion and other qualities. Narendranath was born intelligent, mastered in music and studies. Alike his parents he also excelled in various subjects by the time he graduated. His interest of subjects were related to Western philosophy and their history. Right from his boyhood, he was associated with yogic life and thus practiced meditation for some time.

At a very young age, Narendra started facing spiritual crunch. He faced a lot of doubts in his small age regarding the existence of God. Gradually, then on he got associated with Sri Ramakrishna. Thus developed a pure, unselfish guru-disciple relationship between the two that stood unique in its own stance. From then on Narendra got a better guidance in his spiritual treat. Sri Ramakrishna breath his last off throat cancer, after a few years of association with Narendra. Narendra and Sri Ramakrishna's other disciples, formally took over sanyasa and new names under the leadership of Narendra. Narendra, since then got the name of Swami Vivekananda.

As a sanyasa, Swami Vivekananda started travelling all over India, discovering the length and breadth of the lives of the masses. During his travels through the nation he was deeply disturbed by the massive poverty and the underdeveloped existence of the masses. Out of his deep love and concern for his fellow Indians, he wanted to infuse confidence, inspiration and faith into them. This he wanted to infuse into the minds of every man and woman of India through both spiritual  and secular education. Thus he founded and witnessed an Indian  spiritual organization, Ramakrishna Mission, that took shape a few years later.

By the time he was developing his ideas for the issues he observed, he came to know about the World's Parliament of Religions, a platform that explores about religions worldwide. His friends, companions and other admirers from India wanted him to attend the same. He also found it as a right platform to divulge his master's message to the whole world. Adding on to it his other purpose to visit America was to receive financial help for his project of Ramakrishna Mission.

His speeches at the parliament made him famous. His speeches and knowledge reached most of Eastern America and London. After his return to India a few years later, his speeches stirred the whole nation. Religious consciousness of the people took new shapes and developed into the nation's pride. Through many such sessions of lectures in India and abroad Swamiji became successful in raising India's state of life and people around the world.

 In the process, Swamiji's healthy deteriorated and he took his last breath on 4 July 1902. Swami Vivekananda Quotes have become  the true source of inspiration blended with spiritual essence for all generations in the world.
