On the Pier
Brady finds an upset Melanie and wonders what Philip did now. She tells him to ask Philip, since she’s not in the mood for company. “Is it business or is it personal?” questions Brady. Melanie remarks how it’s usually both with him, then tries to walk off but drops her purse. Brady comforts her when she breaks down. She breaks away and apologizes for turning into a crybaby. He asks if she wants to sit down and talk about it for a while.
She wonders why he’s being nice to her. He figures he should be nice to her, since she gave the alternative fuels project to Titan. She moans how she doesn’t have a job or any money, then begins to leave. He asks to show her the perfect place to work out all of her anger.
Titan
Steph is on the computer and finds that the entire database has been wiped out. He then answers his phone and confirms that Titan’s entire database was indeed wiped clean. He flashes back to confronting E.J. at the DiMera mansion.
A computer tech guy later concludes that the start-up page is back and they have Internet access, but that’s it. He assures Philip that they’re checking with an emergency backup server in Chicago to see if they have some things automatically saved, but it’s doubtful. Philip wants to know how the hell this happened. The tech guy says it’s a worm, which is a very sophisticated virus which somehow entered the system and set itself up to find every connection point so whenever someone turned on a terminal, the worm duplicated itself and wiped out all the data.
Philip asks Stephanie to stay there and supervise. She agrees not to tell Victor anything until they get the files recovered. Philip heads out to deal with another worm named E.J. DiMera.
At the DiMera Mansion
Nicole comes home and notes how serious E.J. looks, then remarks how he’s busy running his company and running Sami’s life. “What the hell does it matter to you who Sami kisses these days?” she questions, confronting him about filing a complaint against Sami’s former bodyguard. E.J. stands up and simply kisses her. He makes it clear that she’s the only one he’s interested in kissing and insists that they need to get past the whole jealousy thing. Nicole whines how Sami knows how to push her buttons. E.J. states that his worry for the FBI guy is only for Johnny’s safety. Nicole doesn’t understand all the fuss, since the guy who was after Sami was killed at the hospital. E.J. is still concerned about the guy who hired the killer and will be happy when the whole ordeal comes to an end.
Out in the foyer, Stefano is on the phone and tells someone to go out to the convent and find out why Nicole was there.
Roman, who is at the pub, soon calls Stefano and orders him down to the station to answer some questions about Mayor Marino’s murder. Stefano complains that he’s answered enough of his “useless” questions already. Roman has new ones for him which might get his attention. Stefano declares that justice has been done, but Roman counters that justice hasn’t been done until they find the man who hired the killer. Stefano agrees to come down to the station when Roman gets a subpoena.
Stefano makes another call to someone, instructing his recipient to get in touch with their friend in St. Louis and to tell him to make sure they destroy any kind of ties he might’ve had with the mayor’s killer, threatening to eliminate him if he doesn’t follow orders.
Back in the living room, E.J. brings Nicole a glass of water and assures her that if won’t be long before their honeymoon. He asks if she found a wedding dress. She says it’s a perfect dress from a boutique, but she’ll need a down payment, claiming the place doesn’t take credit cards. He questions what she did with the down payment he already gave her.
Stefano later answers the door to Philip, who is there to see E.J. Back in the living room, Nicole tells E.J. how expensive weddings are and offers to economize if he wants her to. E.J. writes her another check. Nicole has a fearful look on her face when Philip enters the living room. Philip brings up the worm that destroyed his files at Titan. E.J. suggests that Philip apologize for his accusations, believing that he doesn’t want to face the consequences. “I’m not like you. I don’t play word games. All I care about is action,” affirms Philip. E.J. tells him to get out. Nicole excuses herself to check on a crying Sydney.
E.J. warns Philip to next time direct his accusations towards him only. “My family is not involved,” he asserts before telling Philip to get out. “Go to hell,” responds Philip. An amused Stefano watches from afar. Philip recalls how E.J. and Stefano have gotten away with a lot over the years, but warns that this time they’re crossing the line. “Industrial espionage is a federal crime and so is corporate sabotage,” warns Philip before walking out. Afterwards, Stefano applauds E.J.
Nicole holds Sydney upstairs and wonders what set Philip off, hoping he won’t say anything to E.J. about his suspicion that she and Brady are having an affair. She continues to worry about E.J. finding out who Sydney’s real mommy is. She sets Sydney down to sleep again and says she’ll die before she lets Sydney live with Sami.
Cheatin’ Heart
Brady brings Melanie to Max’s establishment, where Melanie reminds him that her brother is the bartender and she can’t drink because she’s underage. Brady clarifies that they’re not there for the booze and thought she needed to blow off some steam. She jokingly asks if they can tie Philip to the chair and break bottles over his head. Brady suggests doing the next best thing.
Brady and Melanie engage in a game of darts. Melanie continues to shoot darts as Brady remarks how she’s getting better at it. Brady receives a call from Nicole, who needs him to do something for her, insisting that it’s a matter of life or death. She informs him that Philip has flipped out and is talking to E.J. about the stupid fuels project. Brady thought that was a dead issue. Nicole did too after E.J. dropped it, but then Philip came storming in. She needs to know what’s going on at Titan and if she has something to worry about.
