Who's Got the Gold?

• Have the children sit in a circle and give one child a gold coin. Select one child to be the leprechaun and have him stand in the middle of the circle with his eyes closed. The children must pass the gold coin around the circle until the leprechaun says, "Who's got the gold?" The players must stop passing the gold coin and the player who has it must place it in his lap or behind his back. The leprechaun opens his eyes and has three guesses to identify who has the gold. If he guesses correctly, the player who has the gold is the new leprechaun. If he guesses wrong, he must go again.
  
  

Leprechaun's Gold Hunt

• Hide several gold coins all over the play area and give each child a small, plastic black pot to collect the gold. Tell the children that the leprechaun spilled his gold and he needs help finding all of it. Have the children hunt for the gold coins and put any they find in their black pots. The child who finds the most gold coins wins the game and a prize.
  
  

Lucky Leprechaun Says

• Play this game like "Simon Says." Have an adult stand in front of all the children. Tell the children the adult is the lucky leprechaun and when she says to do something, they do it. If she does not say, "Lucky leprechaun" before the action, the children cannot move. When she says, "Lucky leprechaun says jump on one foot," all children must jump on one foot until she says "Lucky leprechaun says stop." If she says, "Take one giant step back," the children should not do it until she says, "Lucky leprechaun says take one giant step back." If any players do move, they are out of the game. The last player standing wins the game.
  
  

Leprechaun Hop Relay

• Divide the children into two teams and have them line up at a starting line. Give the first player in each team line an inflatable gold coin or gold coin plush toy. Mark a line about 20 feet from the starting line. When you say, "Race," the children have to hop with the gold coin between their legs to the opposite line and back. They must hand it off to the next player in line who must do the same thing. The first team to finish the relay race wins the game.
